The Quixotic Tales of Jerrick Lim | The Personal and Highly Provocative Ramblings of Jerrick Lim

The past weekend has been just one ride after another for me. It was really fun and yet SO tiring. I’m not going to try and do it again though. Anyway, here’s what happened

On Saturday morning, I left Warwick at about 11 headed to London, for the Contact Singapore thing with the Chief Justice of Singapore. It was quite interesting but I didn’t stay too late as I had to catch a train to go to Leeds for my friend’s birthday thing. As I rushed to Kings Cross station, I hopped off to get a pack of Krispy Kremes at a Tesco Express. Yes, doughnuts for someone’s birthday present. I RAN OUTTA IDEAS!

Anyway, I got to Kings Cross and called my friend, she was at St. Pancras. And I told her get over here quick quick! There was 10 minutes of pure panic and adreneline as I dashed around the station looking for my friend. Finally we couldn’t wait any longer and rushed to catch the train. She didn’t turn up. We PANICKED!

When we finally got to Leeds, one agonisingly long train ride later, we had found out that she had got onto another train one that would be coming in hours later. Which was fine, since she said she would figure her own way out. So me and my friend sat down to wait for our friend who said he would be here in about 20 minutes. An hour ran by, An hour and a half. Two hours. By which time, we were CERTAIN our friend from the train would be here already. He finally arrived and said that they stopped running trains between his house and leeds so he had to take a bus. A bus which took 2 HOURS! Finally my friend from London arrived and we rushed over to celebrate one hell of a birthday.

People’ve grown. People’ve changed in two years. Its natural and yet so strange to talk to people who’ve gone through what feels like the life’s breadth of experience. As false as that sounds. They seem smarter, more travelled, more grizzled, less naive, and above all, less inclined to think that spending one’s birthday shitfaced is a good way to move forward. Something I tend to agree with. I found these guys exactly as I remembered. Just different. And this was great. This was precisely how I thought things should be after two years. I miss them all already as I feel that I have so much to learn from them. So much they can teach me in the two years that I’ve spent rotting. And yet maybe I’ve got something to give as well… Who knows.

The return trip gave me some time to think/sleep. I miss my friends. Singaporean and the gang from Suzhou. Only 16 days (or so) till I’m back in Singapore

J’arrive

I am here, back so to speak, in the land of my fellow countrymen, the land of beauty and industrialisation. The Middle Kingdom. Yes, Ladies and Gents. I am here, In China. Those of you no doubt will find out later in the day. Haha, I kept it a surprise, yes, a surprise. To freak those of you out, especially in MUN. Oh god, it feels quite good to be back. Though, my head is spinning from lack of sleep and I really should be going off to bed now. As is probably quite plain to see, I am not up to my usual standards of blogging, and beg you, my dear reader’s forgiveness. I am only human. There are things to do here, like get a testimonial from Mr House, and… er. Lol well Yea. Things to do. Yes busy busy busy. Like, wash my hair, breathe, sleep, run around neighing like a horse, buy turquoise jewelry, and handbags. See lots of things to do! So yea, Don’t go telling me this trip will be a waste!
